Attorney Ed Tarlow of Tarlow, Breed, Hart & Rodgers, P.c. is Honored by the New England Chapter of the Family Firm Institute

The New England Chapter of the Family Firm Institute recently honored Attorney Ed Tarlow, a founding member of Tarlow, Breed Hart & Rodgers, P.C. of Boston, MA, for his personal and professional generosity and leadership at the chapter’s quarterly meeting held on December 4, 2008.

Tarlow served as President of the largest and most well established chapter of the Family Firm Institute in the country, the New England Chapter (NEC), from 2000 until 2008. Tarlow was cited for special recognition by the NEC for his tireless work catalyzing sponsors, inspiring membership, developing NEC Committees, and serving as the driving force for many collaborative efforts.

In one such notable effort, Tarlow was instrumental in the creation of the Massachusetts Family Business Awards program, an annual competition designed to promote and highlight the many achievements of Massachusetts-based, family owned businesses, which is now entering its third successful year.

As a senior member of Tarlow, Breed, Hart & Rodgers, P.C., Tarlow has played a key role in increasing the firm’s expertise in the areas of taxation, business law, and estate planning, which are areas of paramount importance to family-owned businesses.  Tarlow is a member of the Boston Estate Planning Council, Attorneys for Family-Held Enterprises, the Society for Trust and Estate Planners, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the American Bar Association, as well as the Family Firm Institute. 

In addition to having a wealth of published articles to his credit, Tarlow has achieved many noteworthy accomplishments. He received the SBANE (Smaller Business Association of New England) Community Service Award in 2007, was named the Boston Estate Planner of the Year in 2003 by the Boston Estate Planning Council, and was selected as a New England Super Lawyer by Boston Magazine in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008.

Family Firm Institute

Five Tarlow Breed Hart & Rodgers P.C. associates chosen as Rising Stars in Boston Magazine?s ?Super Lawyers? issue

Those selected include: Jennifer A. Civitella Hilario, of Somerville, previously named in 2008; Michael Dominick, of Boston; John D. Finnegan, of Pelham, New Hampshire, previously named in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008; Terrence M. Schwab, of Natick, previously named in 2008; and Emily C. Rising Star selections are based on a statewide survey of more than 37,000 attorneys. Candidates must be under the age of 40 and have been in practice for 10 years or less. Attorneys are evaluated based on peer recognition and professional achievement and then grouped and ranked by practice area. Those with the highest point totals are selected.

Perry Ganz, Esq. Elevated to Partner at Tarlow, Breed, Hart & Rodgers, P.c. of Boston, Ma

Boston Magazine must have known what they were talking about when they named Boston attorney Perry Ganz a “Massachusetts Rising Star” in 2007. Ganz, who joined Tarlow, Breed, Hart & Rodgers, P.C. of Boston, MA as an associate in 2004, was recently elevated to Partner at the firm.

During his tenure at Tarlow, Breed, Hart & Rodgers, Ganz has focused his practice in the areas of Estate Planning, Taxation, and Business Law, advising individuals, families, and closely held businesses. Jeffrey P. Hart, Esq., a founding member of Tarlow, Breed, Hart & Rodgers, offered the following remarks, “We congratulate Perry on his advancement to Partner. Ganz received his B.A. in Economics (with distinction) from the University of Michigan and his J.D. from Cornell Law School in 1996. He also received his LL.M. in Taxation from Boston University. Ganz is a member of the New York Bar, the Massachusetts Bar, and the Connecticut Bar. He is also a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Connecticut Bar Association, the New York Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.

Ganz currently resides in Natick, MA with his wife and two sons.

Analyze That! Attorney Jennifer Roman of Tarlow, Breed, Hart & Rodgers, P.c. of Boston, Ma Clarifies Legal Issues for Local Viewers

For Boston Attorney Jennifer Roman, clarifying legal issues for the rest of us has become second nature in her role as a contributing legal analyst for WBZ-TV Channel 4 News.

A former Assistant District Attorney in the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Roman is currently an associate in the Litigation Group of Tarlow, Breed, Hart & Rodgers, P.C. of Boston, MA, a combination that provides her with in depth perspective from both sides of the courtroom. During her tenure in the District Attorney’s office, Roman prosecuted major felony cases and successfully argued cases before both the Supreme Judicial Court and the Appeals Court. Her ongoing courtroom experience has served her well in providing on camera commentary illuminating many hot button legal issues for the public.

Most recently, Roman commented on the Roger Clemens investigation, requested by the US House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, and what Clemens might expect if convicted of perjury charges. A Boston Magazine 2007 “Massachusetts Rising Star,” Roman has also opined on the air about the State Police Crime Lab, the Christa Worthington trial, and the Rhode Island Station Nightclub owner’s plea deal.

While an associate at Tarlow, Breed, Hart & Rodgers, P.C., Roman also presented on “The New Electric Discovery Rules/Developments and Hidden Dangers” at the Massachusetts Bar Association Fourth Annual In-House Counsel Conference.

A cum laude graduate of Muhlenberg College, Roman received her J.D. cum laude from Suffolk University Law School. Roman is a member of the New York Bar and the Massachusetts Bar, as well a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Women’s Bar Association. She has also served as a committee member of Race For The Cure and as a volunteer for the Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts, Inc.
